Located in public space, the East Side Gallery is publicly accessible around the clock.

Located at the Mühlenstraße in Berlin Friedrichshain is the longest open air gallery in the world, with 1,316 meters forming part of the border between East and West Berlin.

It opened February - September 1990, and was renovated February - September 2009.

One hundred and one large format images painted directly on the wall are for the joy of the fall of the wall, for overcoming the Iron Curtain in Europe, the euphoria over the peace, freedom from persecution, spying and lack of freedom and hope for a better, more human society.

For personal stories, hopes and dreams.
