Burning Man

Every year a temporary city rises from the desert in the western United States at Black Rock City.

The occasion is Burning Man, a late summer festival and experiment in community and art. The event takes its name from the symbolic ritual burning of a large wooden effigy ("The Man"), which occurred at the first year of the event in 1986.

A thriving culture arises generated by a global community of participants, whom explore various forms of artistic self-expression.

According to one attendee, "Burning Man is about 'why not' overwhelming 'why'".
