Butlin's Holiday Camp: British Summer Nostalgia
Glamorous grandmother competitions and amusement arcades are the foundation of Billy Butlin’s vision of “fun for all the family.”
Skegness, Butlin’s holiday camp that began in the 1930s, was documented by photographer Barry Lewis in 1982, during a time when this summer attraction was under threat from cheap foreign travel and fickle English weather.
These vintage images represent holidays before phones and the internet, looking back to an innocently vanished age.
