Speckled koppie

63 x 63.5 cm

This koppie is really a dyke , a basalt intrusion. They criss cross the land here like underground dragons surfacing their basalt backs. Water is associated with the dykes, perhapes hence their name ! This one was positioned infront of a farmhouse we rented about 14years ago. I was pregnant with my second child and going through a very colourful light phase.

I have recently I moved into Ladybrand town and opened a gallery space called hA_dE_dA . Here in South Africa we have a healthy population of Hadeda Ibis, also in urban areas. The ibis has a loud prehistoric sounding call ' ha de da !' Like the ibis,  my little gallery hopes to make a big noise ' art art art' !

At the moment a lot of my creative energy is going into a small cob 'mill' I am building here in Ladybrand. Also my two children have returned to homeschooling which is lovely and I have some writing projects. Hopefully my second collection of poetry will be published with Modjaji books this year.

Also this year I am trying to get my art more visible, after many years of relative artistic isolation. I have a lot of paintings and words stored up that I would like to share
