I am an experimental artist practising in Pretoria and Limpopo who graduated
with a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Rhodes University . Specializing in
installation, performance art, sound experimental art and painting. I am heavily
influenced by notions of performativity in terms of gender and race and the politics
that surround and influence my body. My work has been exhibited during the
National Arts Festival (2015-2017) and at the Sasol New Signatures
competition (2017) in Pretoria. She was a part of the research team Arts of Africa
and the Global Souths (2018) on the NRF SARChI programme at Rhodes University to
which I have contributed work on orature in relation to black womanhood.

My work, in more detail, is an ode to the subaltern’s voice. A voice of self-
expression, a narrative, that needs to be heard for what it innately is as opposed to it being
made palatable for consumption. I  interweave  colloquiality and
volatility, symbolizing the silencing and warping of vocal expression and push towards an
art expression that is not derivative of my identity but rather a product of it.
