Where are we now?

Knut HertelBerlinGermany

2020Acrylic on canvas

145 x 145 cm

The pop painting "Where are we now?" was created during the current crisis and is inspired by the song of the same name by David Bowie. Where are we now? Stand still. Pause. Is my direction correct? Do I want to take a new direction? Bowie wrote the song shortly before his death and it is also a declaration of love to the best time of his life, his time in Berlin. Furthermore my favourite brand ADIDAS is on the picture and E.T.. E.T. stands for childhood on the one hand and on the other hand it is also about "playing" in the broadest sense, one of my favourite topics. The picture is 145 x 145 cm and can be hung up immediately. Have fun!Das Pop Gemälde "Where are we now?" entstand während der aktuellen Krise. Wo stehen wir? Innehalten. Pause. Have fun!

As an artist (painter) from Berlin with a focus on Pop Art / Conceptual Art, I deal with the topics of communication, advertising, consumption, fashion, identity, media and art.
For me, art is beauty and attractiveness - as well as thinking and ideas. Art has to impress the viewer: optically and intellectually.
My paintings hang in private collections e.g. in New York, Berlin, Cologne, Vienna, Oslo, Hamburg, Leipzig etc.

I studied painting and design at the Academy JAK Hamburg (Germany), Curriculum based on Bauhaus principles.
