A much older gentleman recently brought me to the realisation that I want to create things that can evoke empathy. I live on a farm in South Africa and support myself through art and design. I have a masters degree in art and a cat.
My work varies from abstract oil paintings and sculptural installations to vector design.
I have taught art and design to children from the age of 9 through secondary and tertiary education to adults at the age of 60.
Working the earth, walking without a destination and road trips are the places or times when new works start to emerge. My process depends on the subject matter and sometimes is the subject matter. If a piece/ idea or subject needs to go through a process of rigorous requirements elicitation than I follow processes from Systems Engineering or Business Systems Analysis. If the subject calls for a messier emergence then sometimes I employ "eeny, meeny miny moe" and try to deny shape for as long as possible.
Sometimes I listen to presentations streaming from CERN, while working, sometimes punk, sometimes Chopin but most often quiet.
