Zoë Alexandra, a transgender model has been an inspiration in enabling my photographic work to progress from just emotional works to a powerful transgression of sensuality, pleasure, angst and revulsion. This book would not be possible without the Zoë’s involvement and dedication. For me she is the muse that gives me the motive and desire to stretch the photographic arts to its limits. From the beginning she has shown a wide range of emotions in front of the lens from the sublime to the passions extreme.
The Purpose of my work illustrates the powerful use of photography and the modern editing tools to re-evaluate contemporary portraiture by bring out highly charged an at times a visceral emotional element to paper. More than just snapshots I explore the potentand emotive elements of human nature in two-dimensional images. The purpose of these works are to evoke a meaningful, emotional and psychological response from the observer and an attempt to bring out the viewer's experience on a given theme. For some it is hoped that they will immerse the viewer to enjoy the images of bountiful delight or for others the agony of their pain. My ambition is that these static images will be the catalysts for a release of emotional suspensions when the observer makes a visual contact from the intimate confinement of the their consciousness. Passion and obsession to the point of pain combined with the various manifestations of ecstasy, joy and agony is a recurring theme of my work.
