ABOUT ME

I am intrigued by our world, mainly the unseen. Why is it hidden and why do people attribute mystery to it? Why do some things happen, for which there are no tangible reason. What is our part in this world; why do some seek to belong whilst others maintain solitude; what are they connecting to, or with? I ask myself.

I see the ant fight like a soldier protecting it's colony and the youth in his hoodie takes another life under the street lamp. I learn how the lore of the land reciprocates our every thought. Hence the saying, "if you're going to have a thought, make sure it's a good one". We live in a quantum field, each and every one of us shaping and creating the reality that we find ourselves in.

Working as an artist, curator, teacher and mentor within the visual arts for over thirty years; my artistic practice is informed and inspired by human interactions between itself and its surrounding. Through our experiences we become the archetypal hero of the myths, legends and stories that have been echoed globally. The spirit traverses many worlds seeking a dialogue within the public and the personal.

Stripping back the layers until I'm faced with a truth that can no longer be denied, is what I reveal through my work. They are the landscapes and portraits of my stories, my comments... the human history, ancient scriptures, animal and plant kingdom all play a vital role in shaping my understanding of our world.

Maintaining a consciousness state of awareness helps the creative process with engaging my intuition, perception, reaction and imagination.

The artists and thinkers that have inspired and provoked my sense of beauty and thinking are Frida Kahlo, Michelangelo, William Blake, Marc Chagall, Somnath Hore, K G Subramanyan, Clarissa Estes Pinkola, Joseph Campbell, Michael Newton, PH.D and Carl Gustav Jung, amongst others.

I am guided by internal necessity.
