I am a Swiss painter of Cuban origin, my work is based on dreams and memories of my life experience
Freddy Montoya Fregio, swiss painter born in 1958 in Havana, Cuba. From his childhood, he feels attracted by crayons and draws with them, combining colors with a rare vivacity, he draws the attention of his parents on the composition and color of his drawings and in particular his mother who, at the age of 16, enrolled him at the National Academy of Fine Arts of San Alejandro, which is Cuba's most prestigious fine arts school. It is located in Marianao, a suburb of Havana. In Havana's Playa district, he meets a neighbor painter and is motivated even more by the painting of the famous Servando Cabrera Moreno, the colorful glazes and stylized composition of his impressive characters, he influenced his work for a number of years. Until the maturation of his current painting, he briefly worked in the Eduardo Abela workshop in the Marianao district, where he had the opportunity to meet the great master and muralist Eriberto Manero in his studio which now carries his last name. The exhibitions of the city of Havana and one of them reminding of its importance were in the room TALIA of the faculty of economics of the University of Havana where he worked for many years. Some of his paintings are part of private collections in Cuba and Europe.
