Guyan Porter’s art explores the sociological and psychological foundations of belief. It combines motifs of graphic information and structural architecture to explore perceptions of environment, politics and reality. Recent works have drawn parallels between social conditioning and consciousness. Investigating control systems, the work questions what drives complicity and resistance within them.

Mixing traditional artforms with processes of political engagement, his work connects with methodologies of conceptual and installation art while referencing pioneering social scientists such as Daniel Dennett and Stanley Milgram. His installations create immersive environments, exploring ways that concepts and belief systems can be instilled in us, affecting our most basic understandings of reality.

His practice incorporates sculpture, installation, architectural intervention, political dialogue and events combining performance, music and visual art. Showing work in non arts spaces he has also worked with major organisations throughout the world.
