I am a Polish artist who currently lives in Rome, Italy. I have studied Intermedia art at Edinburgh College of Art and I graduated in 2015. I also had a chance to spend one semester as an exchange student in SUNY Purchase, NY, learning new techniques and developing my skills.
The intention of my work is to create psychological landscapes, or scenes of tension, that would carry elements of mystery and eeriness. In the artistic process I'm searching for what's raw and instinctual in order to bring out personal expressiveness in the process of creation a state of suspension between different notions/realities.
Drawing is one of my favorite methods of artistic activity as it gives me a great opportunity to have a more spontaneous approach to the creative process, introducing what's instinctive and bold. My work is often inspired by the sculptural pieces of other artists that evoke poignancy, eroticism, conflict, darkness, disturbance. Anything that provokes an emotional response in me might become a great source for my creative passion whether it's people, animals, art objects, dramatic compositions, or scenes from everyday life. I often use photography as a starting point and use images as a reference to further my artistic pursuit.
Sensing is my way of looking at the world and understanding of what surrounds me. It is my experiencing of reality. Through art I'm attempting to convey those feelings by giving them a new form, introducing them to myself and to the viewer, translating them into something perhaps more tangible.
Studying Intermedia art at Edinburgh College of Art helped me to find anew that openness that allows to doubt, ask questions, experiment, cross personal boundaries and most of all bring out what's within. One semester spent at SUNY Purchase, NY, gave me a great opportunity to further develop my artistic skills in various fields such as drawing, printing, installation and video work. Lately I've been focusing on pursuing my skills in drawing as it gives me a great opportunity to have a more spontaneous approach to the creative process, introducing what's instinctive and bold.
In recent past I had a chance to have my graphics published in Migotania, a Polish Literary Magazine (Issue 4 (61) 2018), and also a series of manipulated photographs in F-Stop Magazine, an online Photography Magazine (Issue # 89, Altered Image, June – July 2018). My desire is to share my artwork with a wider audience, therefore I hope to have more opportunities for publishing or exposure through various projects.
