ABOUT ME

I am a practising studio artist for over 30 years. Painting is my main medium. I have historically explored, installation, socially engaged art and site-specific work.  Photography has always being a way to harvest images for my paintings but in the past couple of years I have interwoven digital printed images on canvas with painting. A reoccurring theme has been about ordinary objects and their derived meaning in ways they are acquired or experienced.

TECHNIQUE

I have skills in all painting mediums that range from traditional and experimental approaches in watercolor paints, oil paint and acrylic.

My medium of choice is acrylic paint as it is versatile and allows for experimental and explorative approaches.  The ever -evolving medium constantly allows for new discoveries and flexibility in my creative process.

Acrylic adheres to many different surfaces expanding the language of the paint.

When I paint I consider all different mediums and their applications and push and blur their edges expanding and discovering their relationships to each other creating inspiring and a rich painterly language on and off the canvas and wall.

Painting tools can range from the traditional brush to ones that are fashioned from throw- away food packaging from my kitchen to naturally derived materials found in nature. Invented tools give new possibilities in mark making and surface considerations. Substrates consist primarily stretched and upstretched canvas
