BIOGRAPHY

I started painting when I was twelve years old. I studied under E.B. Stowe, a very prolific and well known artist in Sanford, Fl. His work was very reminiscent of A.E. “Bean” Backus and the “Highwaymen.” Although Mr. Stowe started painting in 1910 (before Backus), so perhaps it would be more accurate to say their styles were much like that of E.B. Stowe. When I was sixteen I briefly studied with Robert Singleton. I received many awards and recognition at local art festivals. In addition, I was an exhibitor in the Winter Park Art Festival (adult section) at 12 years old from 1963-1969. I later began my Fine Art studies at Florida State University. While in North Florida I took “Best of Show” at the annual Thomasville Art Festival ( an annual art show open to college art students from throughout the Southeast). My painting went on hiatus after graduating from college, but I continued to use my creative abilities creating thousands of publication for Seminole County Public Schools (Public Information), Seminole Community College (Coordinator of Public Information) and finally for Marriott International as Communications Director and Director of Training at the Orlando World Center. I always hoped to have the opportunity to return to my art someday, and when Apple created the iPad Pro, it provided the perfect format. I played around with it for awhile, but lacked focus and motivation. My motivation came when my best friend and her sister invited me to go see the “Highwaymen” Exhibit at the Orlando Museum of Art. It was Deja Vu! I wanted to just have fun creating familiar scenes and memories that would hopefully bring a smile and serenity to others. I hope you enjoy my art and that it brings you pleasure.
