ABOUT ME
I will offer limited release, unique watermarked clips (Apple Pro Res HQ, 1920 x 1080) from movies that have received recognition from curators, art venues and film festivals around the world. For each movie, I will release a maximum of 5 clips from 45 to 150 seconds in duration. The clips will be unique in that I will not sell the same clip to more than one collector. End credits will include the movie’s selections, screenings, awards, special mentions and or bibliographical references. Clips will be transferred to collectors via Dropbox.

REFUNDS: Because a digital download cannot be returned, I cannot make refunds of purchases.

I am a middle-class, black American housewife who greenscreens movies and makes stop motion animation in my livingroom. My B.A. is in art from the University of  Nebraska. I was a touring solo theater artist from 1990–2007. I have screened internationally in visual arts venues since 2008 & on the film festival circuit since 2014. I am pleased to have received some special recognition: Best Animated Feature Film, Hazel Eye Experimental Film Festival; Best Fx Design, FICOCC #13; Nominee, Best Editing, Austin Arthouse Film Festival; Grand Jury Award & Gold Award, L.A.N.N.E.F.F.; Hon. Mention/Cinematography & Best Director Nominee, Creative Arts Film Festival.

BIOGRAPHY
TECHNIQUE

My process involves several layers of Chromakeying, sometimes including the actor’s skin. I key one element, such as the screen, then another layer such as a costume or prop, etc. I primarily use Final Cut Express so sometimes it takes a week to completely key a very short scene. I do not like still images behind my keyed clips and I have a large backdrop library of my own B-roll - sky shot out of my kitchen window, airplane windows, many clips shot on the way to and from the grocery store etc.; shot around myapartment or someplace I might be visiting; clips downloaded from NASA; stock footage downloaded from online service bureaus; and other sources.

EXPERTISE

“Toy uploads not just completed films to her YouTube and Vimeo pages, but she also documents the steps in her creative process. Rehearsals, short scenes, character explorations, monologues and FX tests are among the majority of her nearly 700 videos on each platform. It’s pretty neat watching a concept evolve in this way.” Patrick King, August 26, 2019, Five Questions-Sylvia Toy
