ABOUT ME

Working in figurative sculpture, I am challenged by one of nature's most complex and beautiful forms: the human body. I have refined the human figure to basic, almost geometric forms. I love to tell a story or portray an idea through the human form. Giving life to my subjects by capturing their innermost emotions, I express my own romantic longings. Through simple lines and planes, I work to capture subtle yet expressive body language. With the tilt of a head or an arm wrapping around another’s shoulder, my couples are bound in nonverbal communication. I am intrigued by the minute nuances in shift of posture or angle of the head to convey a different expression.

As an artist, I am enamored by metal and bronze sculpture, and use the traditional art of lost wax casting to create my figures. I hope for people to feel the love that flows through my hands and into my work.

I would like to share my vision of romance and togetherness. My couples are symbolic of the love that unites two people, and my families are the result of that union. My figures are a celebration of two individual souls that come together and form a lifelong bond.  As a mother of two, I understand the love that nurtures and expands through the next generation and the strong connections of family. Love has no limit, and my sculptures are not limited to couples or traditional families, but represent chosen family as well. My sculptures range in size, from miniature figurines that can be placed on a shelf, to life-size figures (or larger) that inspire intimate reflection of our basic humanity. They can be an addition to a park or common space--a sculptural family that grows over time to symbolize the prospering community.

EXPERTISE

"LOVE, the invisible bond that exists between all of us.

Searching and longing for love ignited my passion for sculpting, beginning with my little people as a symbol for companionship and family. The first figurative bronze sculptures I created were quite rudimentary and unrefined, more like little sausages than the elegant figures I am now known for. I was living in the wonderful city of Copenhagen during the time, where I owned an art gallery and the Scandinavian aesthetic left its mark on my work. Over the years my understanding of love deepened, my skills as a sculptor increased, and my sculptures became more refined, expressing emotion in subtle yet powerful ways through form and body language. I hope that the emotional expressions conveyed through my figures are felt by the viewer, evoking an emotional response--the warmth of love and feelings of joy.

LOVE brings us together and unites us as a family and a community.

Over the years my loving couple sculptures grew into families and the concept of customized sculptures was conceived. Thus every sculpture can be personalized to represent each person’s unique family structure by assembling my different individual figures to create a unique piece of art for every family. While my bronze figures appear clean and simple, the refinement of their individual designs took years of work and dedication, allowing them to fully express their emotions.

LOVE fuels the arts and resonates with the viewer.

I am honored to join the Loveland community with my iconic “Caress” pair in a larger than life size form as part of the Benson Park Sculpture Garden permanent collection.  My hope is they can spread their powerful message of “Love” through the park, the community, and the world.

Love for sculpture, love for the park, and love for the city of Loveland brings this community together. Contributing to the park and the community is a crowning achievement in my career as an artist.

LOVE to you all - Yenny."
